38 Week Update

On Saturday afternoon, I started writing my 38 week update post.  We had just gotten home from the beach where these belly shots were taken…

38 38.1

Little did I know that these would be my last belly shots before Taylor was born!!

All that day, I had been craving Thai for dinner and I planned to order it extra hot in hopes the the old wise tale was true; that spicy food would put me into labor.  At dinner, I started having contractions, and they were getting more and more intense.  I started timing them and realized that they were coming every 3 – 7 minutes.  After about 2 hours of that, I decided it was time to call the doctor!  I had a feeling that this was much different than the ‘pre labor' contractions that I had been experiencing.

1 Here was the proud Daddy-to-be at the beach that day.  We joke about how he’s going to be such a baby hog.  Taylor is definitely going to be a Daddy’s Girl with such a hands on Dad in her life.  I’m lucky to have him!

Once we got to triage, they confirmed that I was in labor and had was 3cm dilated.  I was admitted and received my epidural shortly after.  The epidural was nice, it did it’s job, but it also made me feel really itchy and made me a little nauseous.   They ended up turning the epidural dosage down a little so I felt better.  My favorite OB came in on her day off just to deliver me. When she arrived, she broke my water.  Within a couple hours, I had progressed enough to start pushing.  I felt some pressure, so I knew it was time.  The nurse and Josh helped me with my initial pushes.  I pushed for 10 minutes and then the nurse had to stop me because things were progressing so quickly.  It would have been a bummer for my doctor to miss the delivery since she came in just for me and all!  My doctor got to the room just in time to complete the delivery.  I gave it my all and pushed for another 10 minutes and then Taylor was in my arms!

I am still in disbelief that she is really MINE.  It’s surreal, and I cry over the thought of it all the time.  She’s absolutely perfect and we couldn’t be happier.  Tomorrow (well, I guess it’s today now!) is my birthday and she’s the best present I could ever ask for!

DSC06062We are home from the hospital now and just getting settled in.  I will post much more after I get some sleep and when I can think straight.  Good Night!

Oh she is just gorgeous! You did so well and seems like you had a very quick labor!

I remember, after getting home and all settled in, I was so anxious to write a blog about my little sweetheart being home and me having her but I was just so beyond tired and had to get settled and what not.

Definitely get some rest and spend it with your little girlie. These days and weeks are tough, I won't lie, but, like I was always told, it goes by in the blink of an eye. So enjoy it , every minute, she is just beautiful.

CONGRATS again and what an awesome BIRTHDAY and early mothers day gift! Happy Birthday Lauren !! YOU DID IT!!!!!!

  25. It's amazing what a miracle a baby is and even more so for you & Josh! I have to chuckle, because Mike & I did some belly shots of me at the beach right a couple days before Maddy was born & again a couple days before Mikayla was born. Maybe the sea air has something to do with it too! BTW, where is that beach you were at, it looks pretty!

Anyway, I am so happy for you & Josh, enjoy your precious baby girl, your birthday and Mother's Day this weekend! I know it's been a sad day for you in the past but this Sunday you'll have so much to be thankful for. Taylor is such a lucky girl. She is surrounded by so much love & support already and she has 4 angels in heaven to protect her. Congratulations again!

    My Story
    Welcome to my life…

Over the past three years it has been flipped upside down. I am 31 years old, and married to my hubby of three years, Josh. We have 4 beautiful angel babies, who are fondly known as our “Green Beans”. The first of my quads, Heidi, held on as long as she could and was born on January 31, 2009 after pPROMing at 17 weeks. A few weeks later, I pPROM’d with my sweet Lily. Lily, Paige, and Rylan were all born at 22 weeks on February 23, 2009. Just after being released from the hospital empty handed, I returned with a high fever and infection. Two of the nights I spent in the hospital that week, I honestly thought I was going to die. It was the sickest and most hopeless I’ve ever been. I’m pretty sure my diagnosis was a broken heart.

Our journey to becoming parents has had its share of happiness and heartbreaks. I got through every day by staying close to Josh, friends and family, blogging, and relying on God that my future will be bright. All the love and support I’ve gotten has greatly helped me manage……I am alive and well, and want to be my absolute best as a result of this.

On May 1st 2011, we welcomed our sweet baby girl, Taylor, into this world. She is our miracle baby and brings so much joy and happiness in our lives. She is such a gift from God.

I have come out of all of this with a better appreciation of life. I hope to make the best of this situation by helping others who will experience a similar loss.
