22 Week Update

How many weeks? I am 22 weeks!  This week is a big milestone for me.  This is now the longest I’ve ever been pregnant before!  I am thrilled to be this far along without any complications in sight!

How am I feeling?  I am feeling way better now that the nasty virus is out of my house!  I was so out of it at my last Peri appointment, as I was coming down with my sickness, that i didn’t really get a chance to talk to my doc about the fact that my cervix had shortened 1/2 cm in just 2 weeks.  It’s still a good size (3.7cm), but I’m still concerned.  I hope bed rest is not in my near future, BUT I will absolutely do it without any hesitation to avoid pre-term labor.

Doctor’s Appointment? Not this week.

Weight Gain? 10 pounds

Maternity Clothes -  I splurged last week on some really nice jeans from Pea in a Pod.  The sales person brought in about 15 pairs of jeans for me to try on.  I was exhausted after trying them all on!  I ended up going with Mavi jeans.  I had not heard of them before, but they fit the best.  They remind me of my favorite pre-pregnancy jeans.  They hold their shape really well and are long!  They have a 32” inseam, which I love!  Chances are, if you see me I’ll be wearing them.  I wear them ever chance I get because they are so comfy and I want to get as much use out of them as I can!

Baby Preparation?  Yes!  The crib is now ordered!  I can’t wait to see the bedding and and crib all put together.

Its really going to feel REAL when I see the crib set up in the nursery.  I hope I’m not jumping the gun here.  I know I still have a long way to go, but I am trying to think positively.  I have a really good feeling that we will be bringing home a super cute, HEATHLY, baby girl in about 17 weeks.

Also, a good friend of mine, who also happens to be an exceptional photographer has offered to do maternity and newborn photos for me!  This is such a great gift to Josh and I.  We will cherish the pictures she takes for ever and ever!  A big thanks to KC Russell Photography!

  10. Lauren,

    Happy 22 Weeks sweet friend!!!

As for those jeans, thanks for the tip, as I now have some Mavi jeans too :) And I tried on every pair that Pea in a Pod had to offer. Yes, they are worth it and so comfy! Can't wait to wear them.

Regarding your cervix length, please do discuss things at length with your OB/High Risk Dr. I know you don't favor the cerclage, but re-visit the option (as I know you will), pro's, con's, etc. I know you are in good hands :) And yes, you will bring home a HEALTHY baby girl!

    Much Love
    Andrea

  11. Happy 22 weeks! You look adorable!

I love those jeans. I had the hardest time finding maternity jeans that I liked (that weren't loose and ridiculous looking! :) so when I found a pair, pretty much that was the pair you'd see me in if I had jeans on! :)

    My Story
    Welcome to my life…

Over the past three years it has been flipped upside down. I am 31 years old, and married to my hubby of three years, Josh. We have 4 beautiful angel babies, who are fondly known as our “Green Beans”. The first of my quads, Heidi, held on as long as she could and was born on January 31, 2009 after pPROMing at 17 weeks. A few weeks later, I pPROM’d with my sweet Lily. Lily, Paige, and Rylan were all born at 22 weeks on February 23, 2009. Just after being released from the hospital empty handed, I returned with a high fever and infection. Two of the nights I spent in the hospital that week, I honestly thought I was going to die. It was the sickest and most hopeless I’ve ever been. I’m pretty sure my diagnosis was a broken heart.

Our journey to becoming parents has had its share of happiness and heartbreaks. I got through every day by staying close to Josh, friends and family, blogging, and relying on God that my future will be bright. All the love and support I’ve gotten has greatly helped me manage……I am alive and well, and want to be my absolute best as a result of this.

On May 1st 2011, we welcomed our sweet baby girl, Taylor, into this world. She is our miracle baby and brings so much joy and happiness in our lives. She is such a gift from God.

I have come out of all of this with a better appreciation of life. I hope to make the best of this situation by helping others who will experience a similar loss.
